What should be paid attention to when starting a diesel generator set

Before starting the diesel generator set, we should first check whether the switches and corresponding conditions of the generator set are ready, and start the engine set when the conditions are all feasible. If the following 9 situations occur, we must not start it. Only by treating the unit carefully and keeping it in a “healthy” state can it improve its work efficiency and extend its life.
Problems that should be paid attention to when starting the generator set:
One, avoid no cooling water in the water tank or add it after starting
Adding cooling water after starting the diesel engine will cause the hot cylinder liner, cylinder head and other important parts to burst or deform due to sudden cold. Similarly, if 100℃ boiling water is suddenly added to the cold body, the cylinder head and body will also be cracked. The correct method is: before starting the diesel engine, it is necessary to add cooling water, and add warm water of about 60℃ to the diesel engine to preheat it before starting.
2. Avoid not supplying oil according to regulations
We should not put the decompression handle to the “working” position when or after starting the diesel engine before supplying fuel. We should put the throttle handle to the fuel supply position before starting the diesel engine. The harm of not operating in accordance with the regulations is: when starting the diesel engine, if we increase the fuel supply of the throttle first, it will cause a waste of fuel, and the excess diesel will wash the cylinder wall and lubricate the piston, piston ring and cylinder liner. Worsening and aggravating wear, and the residual oil flowing into the oil pan will dilute the oil and reduce the lubrication effect, resulting in excessive diesel combustion in the cylinder, which will form carbon deposits.
The correct way is to warm up the engine first, then add fuel to the throttle, and then start.
Three, avoid pulling the car to start
When the diesel engine is cold and the oil is viscous, it will increase the wear between the moving parts and reduce the service life of the diesel engine.
Fourth, avoid changing lubricating oil and fuel oil on schedule
The temperature is different in winter and summer, and the oil used is also different. In the summer high temperature area, if you do not switch to lubricating oils with better high-temperature resistance (such as 40, 50, 60, etc.), the anti-oxidation stability of the lubricating oil will deteriorate, which will aggravate its thermal decomposition, oxidation and polymerization, and will easily deteriorate. . At the same time, the viscosity of lubricating oil will decrease with the increase of temperature, which is likely to cause excessive consumption of lubricating oil. In winter, if you do not switch to lubricating oil with low viscosity and diesel with low freezing point in time, the internal resistance of the diesel engine will be large and the start-up will be difficult. It is difficult and will accelerate the wear of the moving parts.
5. Avoid baking with open flame
In order to prevent fire, if you apply a slow fire or coal fire, you must bake the oil pan of the diesel engine at a certain distance (30cm away), and at the same time slowly shake the oil shaft so that the oil can be evenly heated, so that all parts are lubricated. If the ignition is started at the intake pipe of the diesel engine, the ashes and hard debris produced by the combustion of the material will be sucked into the cylinder, causing the intake and exhaust valves to not close tightly and accelerating the wear of the cylinder.
6. Avoid using the glow plug for a long time
The heating element of    flame preheater is electric heating wire, its power consumption and heat generation are very large, long-term use can damage the battery due to rapid discharge, and it can also burn the heating wire. Therefore, the continuous use time of the glow plug should not exceed one minute each time, and the continuous use time of the flame preheater should be controlled within 20 seconds each time.
Seven, avoid adding oil directly to the cylinder
Adding engine oil to the cylinder can play the role of sealing, pressurizing and increasing temperature, which is convenient for diesel engine cold start, but the engine oil cannot be completely burned, and carbon deposits are easily generated, which weakens the elasticity of the piston ring and reduces the sealing performance of the cylinder. In addition, it will accelerate the wear of the cylinder liner, resulting in a decrease in the power of the diesel engine, making it more difficult to start, so it is not possible to directly add oil to the cylinder.
8. Avoid long-term continuous startup
The engine on the diesel engine works under the condition of low voltage and high current, and long-term use will damage the battery. The continuous start time cannot exceed 5 seconds. If a start fails, it should be restarted after 15 seconds.
Nine, avoid running at high speed just after starting
After the diesel engine is cold-started, the oil viscosity is high and the flow resistance is also large, which makes the time lag for the oil to enter the friction pair, and all parts of the diesel engine are not fully lubricated, causing the gears and bearings of the diesel engine to be damaged due to poor lubrication and at the same time. In order to avoid the wear of the cylinder and the bearing bush, the burning bush may also occur in severe cases.
